Important Roles
VP Membership
The VP of Membership is a member of the Executive Board and is primarily responsible for overseeing the new member education program. Underneath the VP of Membership sit the 2 New Member Educators. The VP of Membership will provide oversight to the new member ed program and communicate directly with the New Member Educator(s) for updates where needed.
New Member Educators
The New Member Educators are responsible for conducting the new member education program and serve as the main point of contact for the new members. Each chapter should appoint two New Member Educators each semester to manage the program from start to finish.
New Member Ed Timeline & Key Milestones
Duration of the New Member Education Process
A potential new membership program should take a new member approximately 8 - 10 weeks to complete and require at least 50 hours total or 5 - 10 hours a week of training, research, meetings and activities. Every program MUST cover the list of required topics and deliverables. This is approximately equal to 3 credit hours or one college course.
Programs should not require more than 150 hours per semester.
The training and research can be completed through a mix of PGN new member-specific events, chapter events, outside research or sanctioned external events and training.
The program is divided into three educational categories with sub-sections.

Internal Membership Engagement (20 hours)
Night of Commitment
The Night of Commitment is the first official night of the new member education program. Please read the "Night of Commitment" section for further details on this night.
New Member Review / Mid Semester Check Point
Throughout the semester there will be occasional reviews and check ins and one formal mid-semester check point. Occasional reviews and check ins should be completed by the New Member Educators and the official mid semester check point should be completed by the VP of Membership. Please read the 'New Member Review / Mid Semester Check Point' section for further details on this review.
Initiation
If all criteria is met, members will be formally initiated into their universities PGN chapter by the executive board and select members of PGN Nationals. Please read the "Initiation" section for further details on the initiation process. This will also be covered in more detail at the end of your formal onboarding with the VP Chapter Success.
