Chapter Bylaws
Bylaws are meant to serve as rules established by an organization to regulate itself
Bylaws should be created based off of the templates provided by PGN Nationals
The Onboarding Committee (initial executive board) will finalize the bylaws and tailor for the chapter
The Standards Board (once elected) will be responsible for enforcing the bylaw standards
Updates to the Bylaws must be voted on by the chapter following the voting procedures outlined below
Please see the sample bylaws attached below to get started
Voting Procedures
Chapter Voting
Voting may be required on occasion to ensure alignment and cohesion within the chapter.
A few examples where voting may be required include:
Elections
Bylaw Enhancements
New Chapter Processes
Active Membership Status Changes
Member Voting Eligibility
In order for members to be eligible to vote, they must satisfy the following requirements:
Present for the vote / Provided vote in advance to a qualified voting governor representative (i.e. an E-Board Member)
In good standing - Academic & Fiscal (as defined by PGN bylaws)
Voting Process
Members who are in good standing will have the option of voting “yes”, “no” or “abstain”.
If they vote “yes” or “no”, their votes will be counted towards the overall vote count and therefore impact the final vote percentages.
If they vote to “abstain”, their votes will not be counted in the particular election.
For a vote to pass, the chapter must vote in favor of a motion with two-thirds majority. If a two-thirds majority is not reached, modifications to the motion may be made and a re-vote can be issued until the motion passes.
The only exception to having multiple revotes is in the event of membership termination. If a member appeals a termination, but the ruling is upheld by chapter vote then they are no longer considered a member and therefore may not appeal again.
