Info Sessions - Information Sessions are events that can be used to kick-off the recruitment week. These events should be focused around welcoming potential new members to to the recruitment process, beginning to introduce potential new members to active members, and providing information about your chapter and what they should expect for future recruitment events. Some things to consider for your info session:

  • Consider utilizing a check-in where you collect basic applicant information that can be used throughout the process such as:

    • Name

    • Year

    • Major

    • School Address

    • Picture

  • Think of how you want to provide information about your chapter / PGN, as well as the rest of the recruitment process

Social Sessions - Throughout the recruitment process you should consider having at least one event that emphasizes the social aspect of PGN and allows potential new members the opportunity to more freely converse with active members, as well as other potential new members. A few ideas of events that could work with this in mind:

  • Some form of sporting activity

    • Bowling, volleyball, etc.

  • Host a dinner or meal

  • Game Night

  • Speed dating (brief one-on-one conversations in which one rotates)

  • Breakout groups

Professional Sessions - Various professional based events can be a great opportunity to see how potential new members represent themselves in a professional environment. Additionally, other traits you can observe depending on the event or activity:

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Ability to convey complex thoughts

  • Problem solving

  • Presentation skills

Some examples of professional events your chapter could utilize:

  • Case studies

  • Pitch competition

  • Professional networking

Interviews - One of the final events within a recruitment cycle that you should strongly consider utilizing is interviews. Interviews allow you to better get to know a candidate in a one-on-one session. This module's next session will dive into this topic further.

Action Item --> Example Outline: Be prepared for your next Chapter Success touchpoint by mapping out an example recruitment timeline of events that would work for your chapter.

Recruitment should include a variety of events. This way, you have an opportunity to see candidates and how they represent themselves in different atmospheres, both professionally and socially. Additionally, this provides the candidate with multiple opportunities to build relationships with PGN members.
