PGN’s New Member Education program has gone through several shifts in the past few years, including the removal of the final exam as well as the implementation of quality assurance across all chapters. In Fall 2021, Nationals introduced a first set of core experiences for new members. Based on feedback from chapter leaders and new members, we have iterated and created a streamlined set of requirements.
In 2022, Nationals re-examined the new member education process. A complete renewal of the New Member Education program was introduced in Fall 2022.
PGN’s mission is to create well-rounded leaders of tomorrow and in order to do that, we must ensure that all members know and begin building a basic set of skills. Closing these gaps through the new membership process is the easiest way to ensure every member is prepared for the workforce. Additionally, years of experience have taught us that certain basic processes and training are critical to keeping members safe and avoiding crisis situations.
The purpose of the PGN new membership training should be to:
Begin to prepare students for the workforce
Create a strong community of devoted individuals
Create leaders who give back to their communities
