What To Do In A Crisis

If your Executive Board finds yourself in one of the aforementioned crises, do not panic. Follow the following steps to appropriately assess the situation:

  1. Hold an emergency meeting with your Executive Board or Standards / Risk Management Board

  2. Collect all of the facts and appoint a member communication lead

  3. All Executive Board members should have access to and be briefed on the same message and facts to avoid misinformation

  4. Notify the National Council of any changes, updates, or resolution

Notifying the National Council

Contact the Executive Director & National President. Please remember the council is here to advise you during this process.

Be prepared with:

  • Situation details, Problem, Crisis Level

  • Possible Concerns:

    • Is legal action being taken against the chapter?

    • Have there been similar events on campus that have received attention from the media, local authorities, or the College / University?

    • Does this violate any of your College / University policies?

    • Does this violate your Chapter bylaws or the National bylaws?

  • Action:

    • What is the Executive Board doing to address the problem?

    • When will they communicate next with the National Council?

    • Does the National Council need to take any action?
